About Malthusian
Formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 2012, Malthusian is an extreme metal band blending elements of black, death, and doom metal. The group was established by guitarist/vocalist Matt Bree and drummer Johnny King, drawing members from various established Irish acts. Their sound is characterized by atmospheric, aggressive compositions and multi-layered vocal arrangements. The band gained early recognition with their 2013 debut demo, MMXIII, followed by the 2015 EP Below the Hengiform. Over the years, Malthusian has maintained a focus on exploring themes of chaos, darkness, and Gnosticism through their evolving discography, which includes the 2018 full-length album Across Deaths and subsequent releases.
