About Ophthalamia

Formed in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1989, Ophthalamia was an extreme metal project that blended elements of black, death, and doom metal. The band was founded by guitarist Tony Särkkä, known as It, and vocalist Jim Berger, known as All. The group’s creative output was centered on a complex fantasy world of the same name, also conceived by Särkkä, which featured its own geography, language, and mythology. Throughout their existence, the band underwent several lineup changes and released three studio albums before disbanding in 1998. Their discography includes the 1998 release A Long Journey, which served as a re-recording of their 1994 debut, A Journey in Darkness.
