Formed in Paris in 2001, Hell Militia is a French black metal band that describes its sound as "Necro Black Metal." The group gained prominence in the underground scene with their 2005 debut full-length, Canonisation of the Foul Spirit, which established their reputation for raw, aggressive compositions. Over the following decades, the band has navigated periods of inactivity and lineup changes, eventually returning in 2018. Their discography includes subsequent releases such as Last Station on the Road to Death and the 2022 album Hollow Void. The band’s lyrical themes have evolved from early focuses on Satanism, crime, and murder to broader explorations of death, nihilism, and decay.
