About Crypts of Despair
Formed in 2009 in Kaunas, Lithuania, Crypts of Despair is an extreme metal band that has evolved from its death metal roots to incorporate deathcore elements. After an initial period of activity ending in 2013, the group reformed in 2016 with a revised lineup. Their discography includes The Stench of the Earth (2017), All Light Swallowed (2021), and We Belong in the Grave (2025). The band's lyrical themes center on death, misanthropy, suffering, and darkness. Their sound has transitioned from cavernous death-doom and blackened death metal toward a more modern, polished deathcore aesthetic, characterized by guttural vocals, down-tuned guitar work, and atmospheric production.
