Dissection

About Dissection
Formed in Strömstad, Sweden, in 1989 by guitarist and vocalist Jon Nödtveidt and bassist Peter Palmdahl, Dissection was a pivotal extreme metal band. The group played a central role in the development of the Swedish black and death metal scenes, blending melodic death metal with black metal and incorporating dual-harmony guitar arrangements. Following the release of their influential albums The Somberlain (1993) and Storm of the Light's Bane (1995), the band dissolved in 1997 due to Nödtveidt's imprisonment. Dissection reformed in 2004, releasing their final studio album, Reinkaos, in 2006. The band disbanded permanently in June 2006, shortly before Nödtveidt's death.
