Svartsyn is a Swedish black metal project formed in 1991, originally under the name Chalice. Following the death of original drummer Tormentor, the band adopted the name Svartsyn in 1993. Primarily functioning as a solo project led by multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and lyricist Ornias, the band has maintained a consistent presence in the underground scene for over three decades. Their musical output is characterized by dark, misanthropic black metal that utilizes a range of tempos from mid-paced to fast. Lyrical themes frequently explore Satanism, death worship, darkness, and Babylonian or Sumerian mythology. The band's extensive discography includes the 2025 full-length release, Vortex of the Destroyer.
