Formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2003, Midnight is the solo project of musician Jamie Walters, known by the pseudonym Athenar. The band operates within the black metal and speed metal genres, often incorporating elements of punk to create a style frequently described as black 'n' roll. Lyrical themes center on blasphemy, hell, and metal culture. Since its inception, the project has maintained a consistent output of studio albums, including Satanic Royalty, No Mercy for Mayhem, and Sweet Death and Ecstasy. Midnight remains an active entity in the underground metal scene, characterized by a raw, aggressive sound that bridges traditional heavy metal and punk rock sensibilities.
