About Edge of Sanity
Formed in Finspång, Sweden, in 1989, Edge of Sanity was a pioneering progressive death metal band. Initially rooted in traditional death metal with their debut, Nothing But Death Remains, the group evolved throughout the 1990s by incorporating elements of progressive rock and black metal. Led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Dan Swanö, the band gained recognition for ambitious compositions, most notably the forty-minute concept album Crimson. Following the release of Infernal in 1997, internal creative differences led to significant lineup changes, including the departure of Swanö. The band continued with the album Cryptic before eventually disbanding in 2003. Their discography remains a notable example of the experimental shift within the Swedish extreme metal scene.
