Putrid Pile is a brutal death metal project from Racine, Wisconsin, formed in 2000 by multi-instrumentalist Shaun LaCanne. Operating as a one-man entity, the project utilizes drum programming alongside guitar, bass, and vocals to produce its signature sound. Since the release of the 2003 debut full-length Collection of Butchery, the project has maintained a consistent presence in the underground scene with albums such as The Pleasure in Suffering, Blood Fetish, House of Dementia, Paraphiliac Perversions, and Revel in Lunacy. The project’s lyrical themes focus on gore, sickness, and mutilation. LaCanne has performed live globally, maintaining the project's output through various independent labels including Sevared Records.
