About Pneuma Hagion

Pneuma Hagion is a black and death metal project based in San Antonio, Texas, formed in 2015 by the musician known as R. The project focuses on themes of Gnosticism, occultism, and Lovecraftian horror. Musically, the band is characterized by down-tuned, heavy death metal dirges, drawing stylistic inspiration from mid-era Morbid Angel. Following a series of early demos and the 2016 Immeasurable Suffering split EP, the project expanded to include drummer Shane Elwell. The band has since released multiple full-length albums, including Demiurge in 2022, which utilizes Gnostic cosmology as a metaphor for the struggle against corporeal existence.
