About Melechesh

Melechesh is an international extreme metal band formed in 1993. Originally established in Jerusalem, the group has since operated from various locations, including the Netherlands and Germany. Their musical style blends black and death metal with Middle Eastern folk influences, a sound they have characterized as Mesopotamian metal. Lyrically, the band explores themes of Mesopotamian mythology and occultism. After a hiatus following their 2015 full-length album, Enki, the band returned in 2026 with the EP Sentinels of Shamash, released via Reigning Phoenix Music.
