Formed in Oslo in 1984, Mayhem stands as a foundational pillar of the Norwegian black metal scene. Their legacy is anchored by the seminal 1994 debut De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, a cornerstone of the genre. Throughout their decades-long career, Mayhem has maintained a commitment to extreme sonic experimentation, as evidenced by releases such as the experimental Grand Declaration of War, the aggressive Wolf's Lair Abyss, and their 2026 studio album, Liturgy of Death.
