Formed in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2004, Diocletian is an extreme metal band known for a sound rooted in black and death metal. The group experienced a period of activity until 2015 before being reactivated by founding member Brendan Southwell in 2016. Throughout their career, the band has explored themes of war, violence, and anti-religion. Their discography includes notable releases such as Amongst the Flames of a Bvrning God (2020) and the 2024 full-length Inexorable Nexus. The band continues to operate as an active entity within the underground extreme metal scene.
