About Détente
Formed in Los Angeles in 1984, Détente emerged as a distinct force in the American thrash and speed metal scene. The band gained recognition for their 1986 debut album, Recognize No Authority, which showcased a blend of aggressive, high-tempo instrumentation and socially conscious lyrical themes. Featuring the late vocalist Dawn Crosby, the group’s original lineup included Steve Hochheiser, Dennis Butler, Ross Robinson, and Caleb Quinn. Despite a history marked by internal instability and multiple periods of inactivity, the band remains a cult entity within the extreme metal underground. Their debut work continues to be reissued, preserving their legacy as an unconventional and influential act from the mid-80s California metal circuit.
