About Conqueror
Formed in Victoria, British Columbia, in 1996, the Canadian duo Conqueror stands as a seminal force in the black/death metal underground. Comprising J. Read and R. Forster, the band cultivated a savage, war-obsessed sound defined by relentless percussion and abrasive, roiling guitar work. Their primary output, the 1999 full-length War.Cult.Supremacy, remains a landmark release for its uncompromising atmosphere of apocalyptic extermination and misanthropy. Though the band was active only briefly during the late 1990s, they briefly reunited in 2014 to perform their sole live set at Nuclear War Now! Fest IV. Their legacy persists through their influential approach to extreme metal, which prioritized a chaotic, martial intensity that continues to resonate within the genre.
