About Atrocity
Formed in Ludwigsburg, Germany, in 1985, Atrocity initially operated as the grindcore act Instigator before transitioning into a death metal outfit. The band gained prominence with their 1989 EP, Blue Blood, followed by their 1990 debut studio album, Hallucinations. Produced by Scott Burns at Morrisound Recording, Hallucinations is a technical death metal concept album centered on themes of drug abuse and personal tragedy. While their early work established them within the death metal scene, the band is noted for their chameleonic evolution, later incorporating gothic, industrial, folk, and symphonic elements into their sound. Led by vocalist Alexander Krull, Atrocity has maintained a prolific career, spanning decades of experimentation and diverse thematic explorations.
