About Brutus

Brutus was a brutal death metal band from Breda, Netherlands, formed in 2000. Known for their aggressive, high-speed sound and guttural vocals, the group explored themes of gore, violence, and misogyny. Their discography includes the 2003 full-length album Slachtbeest and the 2016 release Murwgebeukt. The band experienced significant instability following the 2006 death of founding drummer Maarten "Ploegbaas" Luijsterburg. Despite briefly disbanding and later reuniting for live performances, including an appearance at the 2010 Wacken Open Air, the group ultimately ceased operations as members moved on to other projects. Throughout their career, they shared stages with notable acts such as Nile, Vader, and Suffocation.
