About Kreator

Formed in Essen, Germany, in 1982, Kreator is a foundational act in the Teutonic thrash metal scene. Initially performing under names including Metal Militia and Tormentor, the band solidified their identity as Kreator by 1984. Their sound, characterized by aggressive, high-velocity riffing and dark, nihilistic themes, helped define the extreme metal landscape alongside compatriots Destruction and Sodom. The band's debut studio album, Endless Pain, was released in October 1985 via Noise Records. Recorded in ten days at Berlin's Musiclab Studios, the record is recognized for its raw, barbaric approach to thrash, establishing the group as a significant influence on the development of extreme metal genres.
