Ecryptus

Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001, Ecryptus is a death metal band that blends traditional brutal death metal with technical and blackened influences. After an extended hiatus following their early output, the group was revitalized by Mike Michalski with a new lineup. Their 2022 EP, Kyr'am Beskar, features four tracks of crushing, groove-laden death metal characterized by dual vocal styles of guttural growls and high-pitched shrieks. Lyrically, the band explores themes of science fiction and astronomy, with a specific focus on the Star Wars franchise and the lore of the Dark Side. Ecryptus continues to deliver a heavy, old-school sound that balances aggressive blast beats with dynamic, riff-driven songwriting.
