Negativa

Negativa was an experimental death metal band from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 1997 by guitarist Steeve Hurdle following his tenure in Gorguts. Originally known as Thy Ceremony, the group operated until 2010. Their sound is often noted for its technical complexity and stylistic continuity with the dissonant death metal approach established on late-1990s Gorguts recordings. In 2006, the band released a self-titled EP, which was limited to 1,000 copies and recorded at Wild Studios. Throughout their existence, the project featured various musicians from the Canadian extreme metal scene, including members associated with acts such as Augury and Ion Dissonance. The band explored themes of meditation and self-awareness before ultimately disbanding.
