Malhavoc
Formed in Toronto in 1983, Malhavoc is a pioneering Canadian act that bridged the gap between extreme metal and industrial music. Led by constant member and multi-instrumentalist James Cavalluzzo, the band evolved from early death and thrash metal roots into a genre-blending project incorporating electronic, industrial rock, and ambient elements. Throughout their history, Malhavoc gained notoriety for provocative stage performances and a sound defined by its sinister, atmospheric, and often frantic industrial textures. Following their 1990 debut, The Release, and the 1992 EP Punishments, the band continued to experiment with electronic fusion on records like Premeditated Murder. Cavalluzzo has sporadically resurrected the project over the decades, including the 2017 release, The Release, maintaining Malhavoc’s legacy as a singular entity in the Canadian underground.
