Vital Remains

Vital Remains is an American death metal band formed in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1988. The group initially explored a blackened death metal sound, incorporating ambient noise and keyboards before transitioning toward a more direct, aggressive death metal approach. Their compositions are often characterized by extended song structures and the inclusion of acoustic, Spanish-style guitar solos. Throughout their history, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes, with guitarist Tony Lazaro serving as the primary constant member. Their discography includes the 1992 debut full-length Let Us Pray, as well as the later albums Dechristianize (2003) and Icons of Evil (2007), the latter two featuring Glen Benton on vocals. The band's lyrical themes focus on Satanism, occultism, and anti-Christianity.
