God Macabre

God Macabre is a Swedish death metal band that originated in Vålberg, Värmland. The group formed in 1988 as the grindcore act Botten på Burken before transitioning to death metal and adopting the name Macabre End in 1989. In 1991, the band rebranded as God Macabre. Their sole full-length album, The Winterlong..., was recorded at Sunlight Studio in Stockholm in 1991 and released in 1993 through M.B.R. Records. The band split in 1992 following the departure of key members. Their musical style is characterized by dark, intense death metal, notably incorporating the Mellotron. The album has seen multiple reissues, including a 2002 release by Relapse Records that featured their earlier demo material.
