Suffocation

Formed in 1989 in Centereach, New York, Suffocation is a seminal American band recognized for pioneering the brutal and technical death metal genres. The group gained significant prominence with their 1991 debut, Effigy of the Forgotten, which established a blueprint for extreme metal through its complex guitar work, blast beats, and guttural vocals. Their second studio album, Breeding the Spawn, was released in May 1993 via Roadrunner Records. While the band experienced a hiatus between 1998 and 2003, they have remained an influential force in the global death metal scene.
