Anasarca

Formed in 1995 in Emden, Germany, by former members of Vomiting Corpses, Anasarca is a death metal band known for blending technical, riff-driven American death metal with European melodic sensibilities. The group gained early recognition with their 1998 debut, Godmachine, which established their sound within the underground scene. Throughout their career, the band has frequently utilized conceptual lyrical themes, ranging from the testimonies of death-row inmates on Moribund (2001) to the experiences of the terminally ill on Dying (2004). Following a period of inactivity, the band returned to release Survival Mode in 2017 and the 2026 album Achlys, which explores themes of grief. Anasarca remains a persistent force in the German extreme metal landscape.
