Obvurt

Obvurt is a technical death metal band from Quebec, Canada, established in 2019 by guitarist and vocalist Philippe Drouin. The project originated during Drouin's recovery from a car accident and subsequent shoulder surgery, which necessitated him relearning to play guitar as a left-handed musician. The band's debut EP, The Beginning, was released in 2021 through Brutal Mind and features a lineup completed by bassist Olivier Pinard and drummer Samuel Santiago, with a guest appearance by guitarist Michael Angelo Batio. The music is characterized by its technical complexity and demanding performance style, which Drouin has further developed through the use of double-neck guitars.
