Autopsy

Formed in 1987 in Concord, California, by Chris Reifert and Eric Cutler, Autopsy is a seminal American death metal band. Following Reifert's tenure with Death, the group established a distinct sound that evolved from thrash-influenced death metal into a slower, doom-laden style. Their lyrical themes center on gore, horror, and death. After an initial run ending in 1995, the band reunited in 2009 and has remained active. Their extensive discography includes influential releases such as The Tomb Within, Macabre Eternal, and All Tomorrow's Funerals, alongside collections like Skull Grinder, Puncturing the Grotesque, and Critical Madness: the Demo Years. Autopsy continues to be recognized for their significant contribution to the extreme metal underground.
