Spirit Possession

Formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2019, Spirit Possession is a black metal duo featuring S. Peacock on strings and vocals and A. Spungin on drums and handmade synthesizers. The band is known for a deranged, technically proficient sound that blends first-wave black and death metal with expansive, 1970s-inspired compositions. Following their self-titled 2020 debut and 2023's Of the Sign..., the group released their third full-length album, Cathedral Speech, in October 2026. Recorded in the S•P Dungeon and mixed by Colin Marston, the album features spiraling guitar work and aggressive percussion, further establishing the duo's reputation for creating dark, esoteric, and narratively epic extreme metal.
