Impugner

Formed in 2014, Impugner is a death metal band based in Oslo, Norway. The group features musicians with backgrounds in various Norwegian extreme metal acts, including Diskord, Deathhammer, and Obliteration. Their sound is characterized by a traditionalist approach to death metal, incorporating elements of blackened death and progressive songwriting. The band's debut full-length, Advent of the Wretched, was initially self-released on cassette in 2021 before receiving a wider release in 2022 through Sentient Ruin Laboratories and Caligari Records. The record is noted for its arcane atmosphere and the use of licensed Edvard Munch artwork, reflecting the band's focus on a timeless and deliberate aesthetic.
