Watain

Formed in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1998, Watain is a black metal band recognized for their theistic Satanist themes and ritualistic live performances. Their stage shows are known for incorporating pyrotechnics, candles, blood, and animal remains. The band gained early underground attention with the 1999 EP The Essence of Black Purity, followed by their debut full-length, Rabid Death's Curse (2000). Their discography includes albums such as Casus Luciferi, Sworn to the Dark, Lawless Darkness, The Wild Hunt, Trident Wolf Eclipse, and The Agony & Ecstasy of Watain. The band has also released various live recordings, including Opus Diaboli and the 2023 live album Die in Fire Live in Hell - Agony & Ecstasy over Stockholm.
